M E R C U R Y ☿️ R E T R O G R A D E • Find Stillness • Protect Energy • Remember •

On September 9, Mercury begins its backwards rotational spin through October 1.

Boomerang-like in nature, retrogrades can be an access point to gain a deeper awareness of what we may have passed on the first time around. In the tarot,

Mercury corresponds to The Magician card of the Major Arcana. So when the planet Mercury goes retrograde, it's a similar energy to The Magician card going reversed.

The Magician card represents raw, creative energy. His talent is taking mental or spiritual concepts and manifesting them into physical reality. And when The Magician is reversed, it can be easy to get wrapped up in the feelings of distraction, indecision, and an overall feeling of "I can't do this by myself."

We can use the energy of The Magician reversed for more insight into what energy is accessible to us during Mercury retrograde and how we may individually be impacted.

Here's a simple three-card tarot spread that you can use to gain deeper clarity. If you don't have a tarot deck, you can use an oracle deck or even just use these questions as journaling prompts.

Ask your deck:

  1. How do I find stillness to tune in ward?

  2. Where am I placing my energy that isn't worth my effort?

  3. What can I revisit that needs to be remembered?

Overall, Mercury Retrograde isn't something that should be feared. It's an opportunity to do things over again, to slow down, and to revisit and remember. And if this Mercury Retrograde has you in a tail-spin, book a tarot reading as a form of self-care to find stillness and deeper clarity.
